The year 2019 will kickstart with this rare ‘Super Blood Wolf Moon’ eclipse and events such as this occur when the moon passes through the earth’s shadow. Each Full Moon has a specific name, and the one going to occur in January is named ‘Super Blood Wolf Moon’. According to a report, the reason for this name is that in native American times wolves would appear outside villages and howl in hunger at the full moon. The Full Moon is also a Super Moon and Blood Moon, creating the Super Blood Wolf Moon.

The Super Blood Wolf Moon will be visible on the night-side of earth, which includes South America, the eastern Pacific Ocean, the western Atlantic Ocean and extreme western Europe. Starting late evening on Jan 20, this total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout the U.S. and will finish during the wee hours of January 21. It begins at 9:36 pm EST (8:06 am IST) on January 20 and end at 2:48 am EST (1:18 pm IST) on January 21.

Another spectacular celestial sight ‘Super Blood Wolf Moon’ is expected to excite stargazers from around the world in January 2019. Days after the New Years, the world will witness Super Blood Wolf Moon Eclipse from January 20 onwards, when the moon will be at one of its closest positions on earth. It will be an incredible astral display when the Super Blood Wolf Moon grace the skies. This lunar event will see three celestial events coincide, and each of them will give a phenomenal sight across the winter night sky.

A Super Moon occurs when the full moon is as close to earth than ususual, which is why it appears larger. This is due to the moon being very near perigee, the closest possible distance from earth. However, a Blood Moon sees the moon change to a coppery red hue due to light refraction.

There is no need for any special equipment to witness the Super Blood Wolf Moon. People can just go their backyards to view the event, away from any street lights, especially blue light.
